Hyponatremia due to Enalapril in an Elderly Patient

A Case Report

Hector Gonzalez-Martinez, MD; James J. Gaspard, MD; David V. Espino, MD

Arch Fam Med. 1993;2(7):791-793.

Abstract

Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors are of value in the treatment of hypertension and congestive heart failure. The combination of proven effectiveness with a favorable side-effect profile makes ACE inhibitors, such as enalapril maleate, reasonable first choices in the treatment of hypertension in the elderly.1,2
