Sudden Cardiac Death in Hypertensive Patients
Arch Fam Med. 1999;8:17.
Hypertensive patients on nonpotassium-sparing diuretics had a relative risk of 1.8 (95% CI, 1.0-3.1) for sudden cardiac death compared with those on potassium-sparing diuretics; this effect was lower in those on concurrent -blockers. However, -blockers themselves were also associated with an increased risk (1.7; 95% CI, 1.1-2.6). (Ann Intern Med. 1995;123:481-487.)
