Questions From Readers to Authors From the Archives CME Program

Since September 1997, Archives of Family Medicine has been offering up to 3 hours of Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit per issue to readers who complete and return the Self-assessment Quiz and CME Evaluation. We are interested in your feedback about our journal.

When you return the CME Answer Card, you have the option of directing questions anonymously to the authors of articles in the journal. I have the fun of reading these questions. Many readers have proposed good questions that seem likely to interest other family physicians as well. The authors of the article in question are asked if they will write a brief response for publication. From the editorial office we want to publicly acknowledge and express our appreciation for all readers who give feedback about the ARCHIVES in the form of letters, questions, or comments, and for those authors who take the time to reply to readers' questions about their work. Thank you!

In this issue we publish the first of the questions for the authors with responses to our readers. We hope that this will become a regular feature of the ARCHIVES, and that you will find it both useful and interesting.
