Bone Mineral Densitometry and Use of Hormones
Arch Fam Med. 2000;9:691.
For 701 women attending an osteoporosis prevention program, those with severe low bone mass on densitometry were much more likely (47%) to start hormone replacement therapy than those with normal bone density (13%, P<.001). They were also more likely to initiate an increase in calcium intake, quit smoking, and start exercising. (Calcif Tissue Int. 2000;66:113-118).
