At age 51\2 she stood in the corner at kindergarten and would not talk when did the hearing loss happen? was it in her mother? an infection in infancy? a form of abuse? but that was not all for she could hear some and her speech was understandable what is the issue? she must be mentally ill institutionalize her, a psychiatrist said but then there was blood dripping down her leg from her insides how is a 51\2-year-old to know? to express the beginnings of her history a ruptured ovarian cyst the doctors said an operation ensues nothing more is said or done she remained in the corner and there was blood dripping down her leg the teacher, though it was not popular, cried out it must be something more! her mother was a prostitute and the girl, at 51\2 years old said her name was Jim she was not . . .
