Abstract
A comprehensive Likert-type attitude questionnaire was used to obtain the opinions of public sector unionists regarding local union policies and the substantive outcomes of collective bargaining. Results were obtained from 470 union members having a broad range of personal characteristics. Analysis showed that local union members are largely satisfied with their collective bargaining agreements but hold mixed reactions toward selected aspects of local union governance and membership meetings. The article begins with a review of the reasons workers in general, and public sector workers in particular, join unions. The literature survey was used to develop the questionnaire and analyze the results. This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 United States License.
