Abstract
This article describes the working conditions of temporary faculty and the current status of collective bargaining in the three systems of public higher education in California. Data regarding numbers, compensation, workload, and other employment to temporary faculty were obtained from five studies conducted among faculty in the community colleges and the state university. The conclusion discusses the contract provisions bargained for temporary faculty in all three systems. This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 United States License.
