Abstract
It is often said that we live in a litigious society. Nowhere is that more true than in the areas of public personnel administration and public sector labor relations. Courts all over the country are deciding important issues of public policy in these areas almost on a daily basis. This article examines several cases dealing with public sector labor relations with primary though not exclusive attention given to decisions by the United States Supreme Court. Topics examined are the possibility of a national public sector labor relations act, the union duty of fair representation, and service fees and the agency shop. This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 United States License.
