Abstract
A method is presented which incorporates environmental, social, and engineering factors into the selection of a solid waste system from among several alternatives. The methodology relies upon the establishment of a data matrix for the criteria and alternatives under consideration and upon the assignment of weights to the various criteria. A stochastic procedure takes account of the inherent uncertainty in the quantitative values assigned to subjective criteria and for the uncertainty in the assigned weightings. An example is included which demonstrates the use of the method. This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 United States License.
