in the population (see http://www.imm.ki.se/CYPalleles/). Early research labeled individuals as “extensive metabolizers” (green) and “poor metabolizers” (blue) (5). The “ultrarapid metabolizer” phenotype (red) can result from inherited gene amplification (6).
