Sexual problems are exceptionally common concerns, yet they are infrequently recognized by most generalist physicians. Because many of these problems remain hidden, physicians need to search for them in their patients. Once problems are identified, physicians must know how to approach them diagnostically and therapeutically. This book encourages and supports the physician's ability to successfully accomplish this task.
In the preface, the authors state that their intended purpose is to describe "some of what is known to be normal and much of what is considered to be abnormal" about human sexuality. They further intend to make the text a "practical guide for clinicians" by including "discussions of specific therapies." They have largely succeeded in meeting these expectations.
