A number of short-course pharmacotherapy regimens are now available for the treatment of vaginal candidiasis that can improve patient compliance (Table). In 85% to 90% of cases, Candida albicans is the causative organism.1 Single-dose, orally administered fluconazole (150-mg tablet) has recently been approved by the Food and Drug Administration for treatment of vaginal candidiasis.
