Abstract

This comment is intended to raise some questions of methodology and interpretation concerning a recent article by G. Alan Balfour that appeared in this journal. Balfour's study concluded that no relationship existed between unionization and the level of teachers' salaries. This note points out some methodological flaws in the Balfour article and extends the interpretation of the research findings.
