						<Abstract Language="En">Several factors have been offered as explanations for teacher militancy, including characteristics of the teachers themselves and the community comprising the school district. Statistical analysis of these factors, however, demonstrates they possess little value in differentiating striking from nonstriking school districts. The conclusion reached is that school boards cannot depend on objective measures alone in preparing for negotiations but might better aim their efforts in other directions.</Abstract>
