Abstract
The expansion process of gas and electricity distribution networks at the urban-rural fringe is modeled through statistical regression analysis, using gas mains and electric conductor mileages, market, and density data over a cross-section of California communities. The estimated models are used to analyze the impact of market size, to calculate the marginal mileage requirements of each market component, and to assess alternative staging policies for utility network development. This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 United States License.
