Part I of the study, presented in this issue, discusses the types and amounts of plastic materials found in the waste stream, methods for collecting them, technologies for recycling them, and markets for the recycled products. Part II, appearing in the following issue, concludes that plastics recycling should be pursued and describes an action plan for integrating the plastics component into the Commonwealth's recycling program.
