<Abstract Language="En">
An air sampling system to measure power plant effluents from a fixed-wing, light aircraft has been developed and evaluated both in the laboratory and in the field. The sampling system is easily adaptable to a Cessna 206 and provides the capability to measure oxides of sulfur, oxides of nitrogen, particulates and SF6 tracer gas.

Evaluation of the apparatus has indicated that real-time measurements of the conversion of NO to NO2 in the plume at distances up to twenty-five miles are feasible. The oxides of sulfur are measured by a technique employing KOH impregnated filter papers which has been proven to have very high reliability and precision.

The applicability, precision, and reliability of the entire sampling system are being evaluated in field operations in St. Louis, Missouri. Results of these tests will be the subject of upcoming papers.
</Abstract>
