ROLE of MITOCHONDRIA in TOXIC OXIDATIVE STRESS

Table 1.

Protective Effect of Tocopheryl Succinate in Hepatocytes Exposed to a Variety of Toxic Oxidative Insults

% Cell Death
Toxic Insults Medium Without TS Medium With TS
Freshly isolated rat hepatocyte suspensions were pretreated with 25 μM vitamin E succinate (TS) or vehicle (ethanol) for fifteen minutes prior to treatment with a toxic insult. Cell death (%LDH leakage) was measured hourly in each suspension for up to six hours. Data points are the average of results obtained from at least three separate hepatocyte preparations and are representative of two separate experiments.
