      <abstract abstract-type="article" xml:lang="en">&lt;p&gt;Objective: To present a case of takotsubo cardiomyopathy (TTC) in the context of major neurocognitive disorder and identify important considerations for psychiatrists.
Conclusions: Vascular dementia can increase the risk of developing TTC following anxiety-inducing life events. Antidepressants and hyponatraemia play a role in precipitating TTC as well as its recurrence, which needs to be considered when treating these patients for psychiatric comorbidities.&lt;/p&gt;</abstract>
