Eine Ursache diesbezüglich ist eine erhöhte Anzahl von Zufallsbefunden bedingt durch verbesserte medizinische Untersuchungsmethoden. Durch die rasche technische Entwicklung der funktionellen Diagnostik wird das Befallsmuster von NET spezifischer und sensitiver dargestellt.Neuroendokrine Tumore (NET) weisen eine heterogene Präsentation auf und die Klassifikation von NET erfuhr kürzlich eine Aktualisierung in ihrer Einteilung. Für eine optimale Therapie sollte vor einer Therapieeinleitung eine sorgfältige Diagnostik und ein vollständiges Staging erfolgen. Generelle Therapieempfehlungen eines NET sollten bei Erstdiagnose als auch bei Progression an einem interdisziplinären Tumorboard diskutiert und beschlossen werden. Neben diagnostischer Endoskopie sind therapeutische Endoskopieverfahren bei strenger Indikation zu diskutieren. Die Chirurgie ist eine der tragenden Säulen in der Therapie neuroendokriner Tumore, sowohl im lokal begrenzten Stadium als auch im Sinne multimodaler Therapiekonzepte bei einer metastasierten Erkrankung. Somatostatin Analoga sind Standardtherapien bei der Behandlung eines metastasierten nicht resektablen NET G1 und G2. Die Zweitlinientherapien sind vielfältig und können neben einer Systemtherapie auch nuklearmedizinische Methoden (z.B. PRRT), chirurgische und interventionelle Verfahren umfassen.</p>
