<p>Das Hyperventilationssyndrom als eine Sonderform von Störungsbildern der Atemfunktionen gibt in seiner klinischen Präsentation, in der genauen Pathophysiologie der damit assoziierten Beschwerden und in der Therapie weiterhin Rätsel auf. Angesichts der oft nicht eindeutigen Präsentation der Beschwerden ist es wesentlich, überhaupt daran zu denken, dass eine dysfunktionale Atmung oder ein Hyperventilationssyndrom im engeren Sinn vorliegen könnten. Neben einer fundierten Aufklärung über die möglichen Ursachen der subjektiven Beschwerden sind vor allem Techniken etabliert, über die die Atmung verlangsamt wird.</p>
