      <abstract abstract-type="article" xml:lang="de">&lt;p&gt;Volatile Anästhetika wie Sevofluran werden selten ausserhalb des anästhesiologischen Umfeldes verwendet. Bezüglich des Gebrauchs der volatilen Anästhetika beim therapierefraktären Status asthmaticus im intensivmedizinischen Setting gibt es einzelne Fallberichte und Reviews. Diese haben verschiedene Vor- und Nachteile im klinischen Einsatz gezeigt und weisen auf das lebensrettende Potenzial der volatilen Anästhetika beim schwersten Status asthmaticus hin [1–3].
Wir stellen eine Patientin vor, bei welcher der Einsatz von Sevofluran als Bronchodilatator über mehrere Tage auf der Intensivstation zu einer Optimierung der Beatmungssituation geführt hat, wobei das behandelnde Team auch mit den Nebenwirkungen und Effekten dieses Medikamentes konfrontiert wurde.&lt;/p&gt;</abstract>
