      <abstract abstract-type="article" xml:lang="de">
        <p>Le clinicien doit reconnaitre que l’absence de croissance d’un germe après 3 jours d’incubation d’une ou plusieurs paires d’hémoculture n’est pas suffisant pour exclure une bactériémie face à un problème soit pré-analytique (mauvaise technique de prélèvement de sang, volume prélevé insuffisant ou délai d’acheminement supérieur à 12h), soit analytique (germe dit « fastidieux »). Ainsi, l’incubation des hémocultures à 5 jours ou plus peut représenter le moyen de documenter une bactériémie qui passerait autrement inaperçue.
La discussion des cas complexes avec un spécialiste en maladies infectieuses permet d’établir une prise en charge optimale sur les plans diagnostique et thérapeutique.</p>
