        <p>Das wichtigste für die Praxis 
 
Die häufigsten Ursachen von akquirierten Neutropenien sind Infektionen, Medikamente und ein Mangel an Substraten.
 
Ein deutlich erhöhtes Risiko für eine Infektion besteht bei einem ANC &lt; 500 Zellen/microL (0.5 x 10  9  Zellen/L) und ungenügender Neutrophilenreserve oder zusätzlichen Immundefizienzen, während dieses bei einem ANC &gt; 1500 Zellen/microL (1.5 x 10  9  Zellen/L) in der Regel nicht erhöht ist.
 
Bei rezidivierenden Infekten sollte nach einer Neutropenie gesucht werden. Klassische Zeichen einer Infektion mit Schwellung, Rötung und Überwärmung können aufgrund einer schweren Neutropenie fehlen.
 
Bei Fieber in schwerer Neutropenie muss immer von einer Infektion ausgegangen werden. Abnahme von Blut- und anderen Kulturen (aus Urin, Sputum etc.) zur Diagnostik sowie der rasche Beginn einer empirischen Breitbandantibiotikatherapie sind entscheidend.</p>
