      <abstract abstract-type="article" xml:lang="de">
        <p>Les douleurs abdominales chroniques sont une des causes les plus fréquentes de consultation en médecine interne générale.  L’étiologie étant très variée, l’anamnèse et l’examen clinique sont essentiels afin de distinguer les situations nécessitant des investigations supplémentaires. Les bilans biologiques permettent également d’orienter le diagnostic. Le dosage de la calprotectine fécale est examen peu coûteux et relativement facile à effectuer en ambulatoire par le patient.  Cet examen a une bonne sensibilité ainsi qu’une bonne valeur prédictive négative afin de distinguer inflammation intestinale d’un syndrome de l’intestin irritable. Cet examen a ainsi toute sa place dans la prise en charge initiale des douleurs abdominales chroniques. Elle est également de plus en plus souvent utilisée pour le suivi des maladies intestinales chroniques inflammatoires. A l’avenir, elle pourrait avoir une place pour ce suivi dans les cabinets des médecins internistes généralistes.</p>
