        <p>L’article de Dubs et coll., paru récemment dans le Bulletin des Médecins Suisses (1) sous-entend, sur la base d’arguments qui ne sont pas scientifiquement recevables, que l’immense majorité des lésions de la coiffe des rotateurs à l’épaule sont d’origine dégénérative. En réalité, la prévalence des lésions traumatiques varie entre 46-62%.
En tenant compte des connaissances scientifiques actuelles, nous avons donc procédé à une mise au point pour les médecins généralistes et les médecins-conseils d’assurance, en considérant les facteurs démographiques, anamnestiques, ceux liés à l’événement traumatique (action vulnérante), et l’imagerie, qui permettront de déterminer, avec une prédominance prépondérante, si la lésion de la coiffe est vraisemblablement d’origine accidentelle ou s’il s’agit d’un état antérieur. Afin de faciliter le travail décisionnel permettant de clarifier l’origine dégénérative ou traumatique des lésions de la coiffe, nous avons également élaboré une grille d’évaluation.</p>
