La TSVMS est une entité rare dont le pronostic peut être parfois sombre si elle provoque une ischémie, voire une nécrose intestinale. L’examen clinique et le laboratoire sont non spécifiques et, dans ce contexte, un haut indice de suspicion est essentiel Une antibiothérapie et une anticoagulation doivent être instaurées le plus précocement possible dans l’intention d’améliorer le pronostic. L’appendicite est l’urgence chirurgicale la plus fréquente et l’appendicectomie reste un traitement de premier choix. Il n’en demeure pas moins nous devons garder à l’esprit qu’une thrombose septique du système porto-mésentérique est une complication possible si le traitement standard ne parvient pas à stopper son évolution.
