        <p>Abstract: 
Rubrique: Comment interprétez-vous ce résultat?
Cas Clinique 
Nous présentons une brève description d'un cas clinique ou la poursuite de l'antibiothérapie fut guidée par un dosage de procalcitonine (PCT).
Discussion: 
Après un bref rappel sur la physiopathologie d'une augmentation de la PCT nous discutons de son utilisation courante et son indication dans le sepsis et l'infection respiratoire inférieure. Nous discutons brièvement l'algorithme décisionnel répandu pour le début d'une antibiothérapie dans le cadre d'une infection respiratoire inférieure.
Utilisation des valeurs seuils: 
Nous élaborons ici les aspect techniques du dosage de la PCT, la méthode de référence (BRAHMS sensitive Kryptor [PCT LIA]) et son incertitude de mesure. Nous illustrons par une figure la distribution des valeurs obtenues à partir d’un même échantillon dans les laboratoires suisses.
Conclusion 
La PCT a démontré son utilité dans le diagnostic d’une infection bactérienne et la différenciation avec d’autres types d’infections, elle aide à guider l’antibiothérapie dans le cadre d’infections respiratoires inférieures.</p>
