The ATCC indicates the deposit is non-type, the JCM indicates it is type. Rosario et al erroneously assert this to be the type in their proposal of Agathobacter rectalis (Hauduroy et al. 1937) Rosero et al. 2016. The relationship between A1-86 and ATCC 33656 is unclear. Moreover, Rosario et al asset that ATCC 33656 = DSM 3377 and the latter is not available from the DSMZ (at least not visible online). There is a pending Request for Opinion regarding a proposed neotype to replace VPI 0989. The type material in the collections is currently in question. JCM incorrectly asserts VPI 990 as type material, while ATCC asserts it as non-type. This assertion was made in Bergey's 1st Edition but was not yet ruled on by the Judicial Commission.
