The type strain also appears under this name in two US patents from 1971 and 1972, respectively (rid.12186 and rid.12185). In 2003, Amycolatopsis tolypomycina was validly published with the type strain. The ATCC catalogue still uses the name Streptomyces tolypophorus. A search in the NBRC database (formerly IFO) reveals that IFO 12554 and IFO (NBRC) 14664 are equivalent.
