Baltimore TODO (garrity): There should be an erratum published to fix this problem. From 2005 to 2018 this taxon was considered to not be in use. Bergey's (2005) unified this family into Thiotrichaceae Garrity et al. 2005. However, that event was incorrect and never appeared in the IJSEM, as Beggiatoaceae has priority over both Achromatiaceae and Thiotrichaceae. Boden and Scott 2018 proposed Leucotrichaceae fam. nov. in the Gammaproteobacteria, which would result in a later homonym.
