    <curatorial-note>Kamagata et al. 1992 proposed a rejection of the name Methanothrix thermoacetophila, names can only be rejected by official opinion. 
The genus Methanothrix was officially rejected by the Judicial commission in 2008. Hence, the basonym for Methanosaeta thermoacetophila is technically not validly published. However, the new combination Methanosaeta thermoacetophila with basonym Methanothrix thermoacetophila was validly published before the Judicial Opinion 75 was published.</curatorial-note>
