Nomenclatural History	The species Rhodobacter capsulatus was originally described and validly published by Imhoff et al. 1984. Hördt et al. published an emended description of this species in 2020. Imhoff et al. formed this name in 1984 by placing the species Rhodopseudomonas capsulata (Molisch 1907) van Niel 1944 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Rhodobacter Imhoff et al. 1984 emend. Suresh et al. 2019.
