Nomenclatural History
The species Rhodobacter sulfidophilus was originally described and validly published by Imhoff et al. 1984. Imhoff et al. formed this name in 1984 by placing the species Hansen and Veldkamp 1973 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Imhoff et al. 1984 emend. Suresh et al. 2019. In 1994, Hiraishi and Ueda established as the basonym of (Hansen and Veldkamp 1973) Hiraishi and Ueda 1994 .
