Nomenclatural History
This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 68 in 1999. The species Ahrensia kielensis was originally described by Ahrens and Rheinheimer 1967. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1998 the name was revived by Uchino et al.. Liu et al. published an emended description of this species in 2016.
