Nomenclatural History
The species Gemmobacter aquatilis was originally described by Rothe et al. 1987. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 26 in 1988. Chen et al. published an emended description of this species in 2013. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Hördt et al. in 2020.
