Nomenclatural History
The genus Hyphomonas was originally proposed by Pongratz 1957. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1984 the name was revived and validly published by Moore et al.. Weiner et al. published an emended description of this genus in 2000. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Li et al. in 2014.
