Nomenclatural History
The species Hyphomonas neptunium was originally described and validly published by Moore et al. 1984. Li et al. published an emended description of this species in 2014. Moore et al. formed this name in 1984 by placing the species Leifson 1964 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus (ex Pongratz 1957) Moore et al. 1984 emend. Li et al. 2014. Li et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Weiner et al. 1985 emend. Hördt et al. 2020 in 2014.
