Nomenclatural History
The species Ketogulonicigenium vulgare was originally described and validly published by Urbance et al. 2001. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 81 in 2008. List Editor corrected this name from (sic) to .

Although Tindall previously stated in Opinion 81 that this name was Not Validly Published, Tindall 2019 asserts that this name contravenes Rule 30 of the ICNP because no nomenclatural type has been deposited in conformity with Rule 30. Currently, the only available deposit is considered to be a patent deposit. This name is considered to therefore be illegitimate until a publicly available deposit is confirmed.
