Nomenclatural History
The species Methanobacterium thermalcaliphilum was originally described by Blotevogel et al. 1985. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 25 in 1988. Boone and Mah corrected this name from (sic) to . Kotelnikova et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of corrig. Zeikus and Wolfe 1972 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Touzel et al. 1992 in 1993.
