Nomenclatural History	The species Methanobacterium thermophilum was originally described by Laurinavichus et al. 1987. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 34 in 1990. In 2001, Boone established Methanobacterium thermophilum as the basonym of Methanothermobacter thermophilus (Laurinavichus et al. 1990) Boone 2002 .
