Nomenclatural History
The species Ruegeria algicola was originally described by Uchino et al. 1998. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 68 in 1999. Uchino et al. formed this name in 1998 by placing the species Lafay et al. 1995 into the genus Uchino et al. 1999 emend. Wirth and Whitman 2018. In 2006, Martens et al. established as the basonym of (Lafay et al. 1995) Martens et al. 2006 emend. Hördt et al. 2020 .
