Nomenclatural History	The species Sphingomonas subterranea was originally described and validly published by Balkwill et al. 1997. In 2001, Takeuchi et al. established Sphingomonas subterranea as the basonym of Novosphingobium subterraneum corrig. (Balkwill et al. 1997) Takeuchi et al. 2001 emend. Hördt et al. 2020 .
