The species Sphingomonas taejonensis was originally described and validly published by Lee et al. 2001. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 81 in 2008. In 2006, Pal et al. established Sphingomonas taejonensis as the basonym of
Sphingopyxis taejonensis (Lee et al. 2001) Pal et al. 2006
