Nomenclatural History
The species Novosphingobium capsulatum was originally described and validly published by Takeuchi et al. 2001. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 81 in 2008. Hördt et al. published an emended description of this species in 2020. Takeuchi et al. formed this name in 2001 by placing the species (Leifson 1962) Yabuuchi et al. 1990 into the genus Takeuchi et al. 2001. Yabuuchi et al. established as a later homotypic synonym of (Leifson 1962) Yabuuchi et al. 1990 in 2002.
