Nomenclatural History
The genus Rhizomonas was originally proposed and validly published by van Bruggen et al. 1990. This name was placed onto the nomina taxorum rejicienda by Judicial Opinion 14 in 1954. Yabuuchi et al. transferred the members of this genus into Yabuuchi et al. 1990 emend. Feng et al. 2017 in 1999.

This name is illegitimate, as it is a later homonym of a protozoan name.
