Nomenclatural History

The species Sphingobium yanoikuyae was originally described and validly published by Takeuchi et al. 2001. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 81 in 2008. Hördt et al. published an emended description of this species in 2020. Takeuchi et al. formed this name in 2001 by placing the species
Sphingomonas yanoikuyae Yabuuchi et al. 1990
into the genus Sphingobium Takeuchi et al. 2001 emend. Li et al. 2013.
