Nomenclatural History
The subspecies Zymomonas mobilis pomaceae was originally described by De Ley and Swings 1976. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Coton et al. published an emended description of this subspecies in 2006. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Hördt et al. in 2020.
