The species Brevundimonas subvibrioides was originally described and validly published by Abraham et al. 1999. Hördt et al. published an emended description of this species in 2020. Abraham et al. formed this name in 1999 by placing the species Poindexter 1964 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Segers et al. 1994 emend. Abraham et al. 1999.
