The genus Allorhizobium was originally proposed and validly published by de Lajudie et al. 1998. Hördt et al. published an emended description of this genus in 2020. Young et al. transferred the members of this genus into Frank 1889 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Young et al. 2001 in 2001.
